OUR CLUB
A club with
heart, history
and a place for everyone.
Born from two of Christchurch’s most iconic rugby clubs, Marist Albion blends tradition with a fresh, inclusive spirit. We’re open to players from all corners of the city, with a strong focus on community, skill development and a love for the game.
Whether you’re just starting out or chasing top-level competition, you’ll find your place here. On the field, in the clubhouse and as part of something bigger.
Join the legacy. Play with pride.
WHY MARIST ALBION
What We Stand For
Mission Statement.
Above all else, we are an amateur rugby club operating for the benefit of those players in our community who share similar values and interests. We particularly recognize the need to respect the special character of the Catholic and Christian interests of our Club. We will help and encourage individuals (players, coaches, administrators and supporters) to maximise their potential and provide a stimulating and enjoyable social environment to all our members.
Uniqueness.
The Marist Albion Club has a fraternal relationship and is affiliated with 27 other Marist Clubs throughout New Zealand. We have sister clubs providing cricket, netball, squash and from our Christchurch Facilities.
Furthermore the Club promotes Christian values where possible and has a founding value to be a family club.
Participation.
Marist Albion is all about long-term involvement and love for the game. We proudly field a Golden Oldies team each season, keeping the spirit alive for lifelong players. The club also welcomes overseas players, offering them the chance to grow their game at Division 1 or age group level.
Known for our expansive, running style of rugby, Marist Albion has consistently performed at the top, securing top four finishes in eight of the past ten years, with championship wins in 2021, 2023 & 2025.
Membership.
Marist Albion is an open club offering membership to all drawing on no specific geographical area but on a population city-wide. The club has up to five feeder schools and a large number of primary schools for our junior club, many of which return on leaving school.
