HISTORY

Uniqueness:
The Marist Albion Club has a fraternal relationship and its affiliated with 27 other Marist Clubs throughout New Zealand. We have sister clubs providing cricket, netball, squash and from our Christchurch Facilities.Furthermore the Club promotes Christian values where possible and has a founding value to be a family club.

Membership:
Marist Albion is an open club offering membership to all drawing on no specific geographical area but on a population city-wide. The club has up to five feeder schools and a large number of primary schools for our junior club, many which return on leaving school.

Participation:
The club encourages long term participation and enjoyment fielding two golden oldies teams throughout the season. Furthermore overseas players are often hosted for a season or more to develop their game either at Division 1 or age group level. Marist Albion has been renowned over the years for promoting an expansive open style of running rugby leading to a top four placing 8 out of past 10 years. Its most recent championship win was 2003.

Mission Statement:
Above all else, we are an amateur rugby club operating for the benefit of those players in our community who share similar values and interests. We particularly recognize the need to respect the special character of the Catholic and Christian interests of our Club. We will help and encourage individuals (players, coaches, administrators and supporters) to maximize their potential and provide a stimulating and enjoyable social environment to all our members.

Marist Albion has well organised club structure to support players, coaches and sponsors alike and endeavors to maintain professional standards of coaching at all grades.
