Marist Albion is passionate about developing women's rugby and our women's team is an integral part of the clubs success both on and off the field. We are committed to providing a supportive environment to new players and building the overall skill level of the team.

Any player that is interested in playing Premier Women's rugby for Marist Albion is welcome and encouraged to attend. It's never to late to join, the secret to getting ahead is getting started!

During the season games are generally played on Saturday afternoons, normally at 1.00pm or 2.45pm.

The team and club will always welcome and encourage women to take up rugby at Marist Albion, you can find further information regarding Age to Play Senior Women's Rugby Pathway above, and anyone interested should email us for more information.

Coaches

Brent Clough, a cornerstone of the junior Marist Albion rugby community, now transitions into a new chapter of his coaching career, dedicating his expertise to the development of Women's Rugby. He also formerly played for Marist Albion in the backs, guiding colts and senior teams around the park.

With a proven track record of nurturing talent and instilling a winning mentality, Brent's passion for the game and commitment to player development make him an invaluable asset to the team. Drawing from his experience coaching the Marist Albion girls' rugby team, along with his representative coaching in the U18 girls space, Brent is poised to make a significant impact on the Women's Rugby program, shaping the next generation of athletes and inspiring excellence both on and off the field.

Tala Kele, a revered figure in the Marist Albion Rugby Club, brings a wealth of experience to the coaching and management team. With an illustrious playing career spanning over 300 premier games, Tala's intimate knowledge of the game and unmatched leadership qualities make him an indispensable asset. Beyond his exploits on the field, Tala's coaching acumen extends to rugby league, where he has made significant contributions to player development and team success. As a proud advocate for Women's Rugby, Tala's passion for the game and unwavering dedication to fostering talent ensure that Marist Albion's Women's Rugby program is in capable hands.

Introducing Tia Holdaway-Marks, our dynamic new strength and conditioning coach, poised to elevate the fitness and performance levels of our players. With boundless energy and unwavering commitment, Tia brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise in athlete conditioning, honed through years of experience in various sporting arenas. From her background in playing hockey to her extensive work training individuals in the gym, Tia's multifaceted skill set uniquely positions her to tailor fitness regimens that optimize rugby specific strength, endurance, and agility. With Tia at the helm, our team can expect to reach new heights of fitness and performance, ensuring they're primed to tackle any challenge that comes their way on the field.

Management

Ratu Lolohea, the seasoned veteran, will be assuming the pivotal role of team manager. With a storied background that includes playing for Marist in Auckland and coaching rugby teams from Northland to Christchurch, Ratu brings a wealth of experience and leadership to the table. His tenure coaching the Marist Albion Colts team and the Women's team, which clinched a championship under his guidance, speaks volumes about his ability to encourage a winning culture.

Joining Ratu in the management team is Paris Lolohea, who will be stepping into the role of assistant manager. While currently sidelined due to injury, Paris brings a wealth of experience and enthusiasm to the team. Having previously played for Marist Albion a few years ago, she's excited to return and contribute to this new chapter of the team's journey.
