In April 2018 the Executive Committee determined that a review should be undertaken into the rugby operations and administration of the club going forward. An independent review panel was established and Richard Smith, Gilbert Enoka and John Lynch, standing outside the executive Committee were tasked to complete the review. This process has resulted in a number of recommendations being made to theExecutive committee which are now being followed up.
One of the recommendations was to form a stand alone Rugby operations Committee. The rugby operations committee’s focus is on recruitment, culture, retention and development of Players, Coaches and Managers over the next 1-5yrs.
The Rugby Operations Committee consists of -
John Lynch - Chair, (now also Executive Committee Member)
Brendan Callaghan - Executive Committee Member
Richard Smith - NZ Cricket High Performance Coach Development Manager
Ross Kennedy - Previous Marist Albion Senior Captain/Former professional Rugby Player
Cam McIntyre - Player Manager/Coach/Former professional Rugby Player
Simon Scott - Premier Coach
Paddy Brand - Premier Manager
Jo Mckenzie - Club Administrator
This group has already met twice and are developing an exciting long term plan for the Club.
The performance and team culture of the Premier team have been the first signs of positive change this year. The rugby operations committee are very excited about pooling their experience together to focus on moving the club forward across all teams.
We will keep you updated as we move forward.
