The Marist Albion Junior Rugby Committee is delighted with the way the season has started. The children are well coached and play with pride and determination. Many thanks to the coaches and parents who support their children. We look forward to a successful and enjoyable season. This newsletter is designed to keep you informed of developments. 2010 Goals

We want to encourage children to play rugby, have fun and develop their skills. Marist Albion intends to field two teams in each junior grade .To do this we need to keep all of our existing players and also recruit new players. We will also be working on a strategy to promote and encourage high standards of coaching. As a club we need to support our coaching volunteers.

2010 is an exciting year for the club as we celebrate 125 years of rugby at Albion, now Marist Albion. This will put a strong focus on the club and we look forward to having junior involvement.

Grade Liaisons for 2010

Sam Hunter: under 6s and under 7s
Diane Anderson and Philippa Harris: 8s, 9s ,10s. and 11s
Damian Haigh and David Willetts: under 12s, under 13s upwards

Uniforms/Boots

We would like to encourage all members to donate any boots, socks or old practice jerseys to the club so that we can have them available for families that may require them. Often we have this sort of thing taking up space at home and now we are happy to take them off your hands and pass them onto someone else. We will have a bin available at registration. If you require assistance with finding boots or training gear please let a committee member know and we will happily help you out.
Black shorts are now mandatory .This ensures consistency between the senior and junior club.

Subscriptions for the 2010 season will be to $60 per player, or $90 per family.

Pompallier Tournament

We would like to congratulate all participating teams for their magnificent effort. Marist Albion won all the games and came out on top! How exciting and wonderful for all the children. We look forward to seeing the same results next year when we host the tournament. Again, tournaments like this are not possible without parent support so thank you! Photos will be on the website soon.

Upcoming Fundraising events

The Marist Albion Club day is being held on Saturday 5th June. All games on the Saturday will be at Middleton Park.
The junior committee will be organising a sausage sizzle and refreshments. All money goes to the Junior Club.

The Albion club reunion is being held from 4-7 June.

The Bledisloe Cup Fundraising Night is being held on the 31st July 2010.

This is a Joint Fundraiser for the Junior and Senior Club with
an auction being held before the Bledisloe Cup begins. We would encourage all supporters to come along and join in the fun.
Tickets are $ 10pp( includes supper) and are available from the Club Office or the Coaches. It will be held at the Riccarton Club in the Parkview Lounge.

Quiz night 20th August

We have started planning for this fun filled night. We will have tickets available soon. We will keep you updates by email.

Compared to traditional fundraising methods, clubs /schools can save time and energy by utilising the partners package.
ANZ Partners is a rewards programme that’s free to join!
It’s simple. Clubs/Schools can join the programme and earn ANZ Partners credits whenever a mortgage is referred to ANZ and drawn down.
These credit points can then be used to choose from an extensive range of rewards including sporting equipment, uniforms, electrical goods, books, computers, art supplies, travel or whatever you may require.
Your club /school will receive 800 credits, equivalent to $400 worth of rewards for every loan over 50 K that is referred and drawn down.
To be signed up for the Partners programme, it’s not essential to bank ANZ.
