Dear Marist Albion Community,
Due to the announcement Monday the 24th and the MOH Level 2 restrictions remain. All games are again able to be played subject to Contact Tracing, Hygiene and Social Distancing. However, there are no spectors allowed with the only exception for 1 parent allowed in the U6-U18 grades. The clubrooms are open but we have a 100 person capacity and Bowls Papanui staff will be ensuring all MOH restrictions are adhered to.
This week the Premier One team look to lock in a semi-final spot and celebrate a number of Milestones:
Moeaki Toma 50 Games
Moeaki joined Marist Albion through our Sevens program while still playing 1st XV at St Bede's College. After his final year in which the 1st XV won the then Press Cup he quickly rose through the Senior Grades from Premier Colts to Premier One. Late last year Moeaki made the tough decision to move to Spain for a season abroad. He was able to have many new experiences on and off the field and train as a semi-professional player. On the field he was thenumber 1 lineout option as the club, (which was almalgamated) split into two teams early in his season. Upon arriving back to training after quarintine it was clear for all to see he was ready to rip into the season. From Sevens to 15s Moe is a clear cultural leader within the team and we thank him for his contributions to the club so far. Congratulations on 50 Caps, and we hope there many more to come.
Declan McCormack
Joining the Club in 2019, Declan brought his competitive edge and must win attitude along with his white lightning speed. He has led the Premier Team all season as Captain and has helped drive the success we have seen this year alongside a strong coaching, managing and leadership group. Congratulations on your Blazer game and we know this is just the beginning.
Rico Syme
Rico also joined the Club in 2019 after some standout performances in Premeir Colts and Canterbury 19s. He finished the season Representing Canterbury at the National Sevens Competition. Probably the fastest player in the Metro competition Rico has solidified the Fullback spot this year and has found his feet in the contact. Congratulations on earning your Blazer
Filipo Veamatahau
Another 2019 debutant Filipo joined us from North Otago. A hard ball carrying loose forward he has developed into a player who has had a big impact for us over the last two seasons. The sky is the limit for Filipo and we are excited for what the future holds for you. Congratulations on earning your Blazer.
